San Martín de los Andes is a typical mountain village. It is located in south-west Neuquén, in a privileged and marvellous place: Lanín National Park . It is surrounded by woods and mountain range hills beside Lácar lake. There you will discover a place called "Valle de los Dioses" (Gods' Valley) by the natives who lived there. The main attraction in winter is Chapelco ski resort, it is the trendiest in Latin America as regards elevation means and the service provided to the people who are keen on this sport.

In Spring and summer there are more varied activities: horseback riding, trekking, mountain bike, tours to learn about nature, lake excursions, etc.

In summer there is a variety of water sports in the rivers and lakes of the region: canoeing, windsurfing, rafting and sailing. It is also the best choice for those who love sports fishing in all its forms (fly casting, trolling, and spinning ).

This beautiful Andes mountain range village is a tourist centre of about 20,000 inhabitants, its economy is based almost exclusively on tourism. Its population is the main settlement and offers Lanín National Park's service. This National Park is the most extensive in the province and headquarters of the province's 'intendencia ' (administration).
